Beer Label Art Contest

Updated: Mar 18

First we would like to thank Denali Brewing Company (DBC) for generously brewing a beer just for Denali Rescue Volunteers. We are deeply grateful for all the support we have received over the years and honored that a portion of the proceeds from this new Pale Ale will be donated to DRV. Thank you.

Artists!

We are looking for a piece of art that depicts the spirit of Denali Rescue Volunteers and helps us christen our new beer with a name!

Please note that DBC needs to put their logo on there somewhere, as well as "Denali Brewing, Talkeetna, Alaska" and a few other government warnings and official things that need to be on alcoholic beverages. Their graphic designer, Brad, let us know that he can add all that technical info on top of the art after the fact if artists don't want to design it into their artwork. That includes the name of the beer and all the official labels that need to go on the can. So that means you only need to worry about the artwork!

Any art piece chosen for this new label will be considered a donation to DRV, a 501(c) (3) non-profit, and may be written off on your taxes as such.

Below is an example of a collaboration DBC did: "Wild Bristol Bay Red Ale" with custom artwork by the very talented Yup’ik Artist-activist and Bristol Bay Native Apay’uq.  Brad was able to easily add the name of the beer and all the labels that needed to go on this can after the artist submitted their work.

The label dimensions are 3.625" Tall by 8" wide.

Below is a blank template for the label DBC uses for beer cans. Feel free to download this to help you better understand how your design will look on a can.

The beer will be a Pale Ale, 5.5% ALC/Vol, 30 IBU.

Here is a link to DBC's beers and a good resource to check out their can artwork: https://www.denalibrewing.com/beer

We will not be accepting submissions after April 12th. A decision will be made no later than April 18th.

A panel of people will vote on which artwork and beer title will be featured on this new DRV beer. The panel will consist of one vote from the DBC team, one vote from the DRV Board and one vote from public polling.

If you win, be prepared for people from all over Alaska and the world to be asking "Woah, who did the art for this can?". The beer is set to be released this summer during peak tourism season. Yay!

To submit your artwork and beer name for consideration or if you have any questions, please email madelyn@denalirescue.org. Thank you!
